Department of Disaster Management : Morigaon College

Introduction

As an innovative programme under the guidance of Gauhati University, the department of Disaster Management came into being for the first time in Morigaon College, Assam in 2009. This two year P.G. diploma course curriculum, syllabus, examination etc. were recognized and undertaken by the Gauhati University of Assam. The eligibility criteria for getting admission into this course are graduated in any discipline from a recognized university. A student has to complete 8 (eight) papers for the entire course. 4 (four) of which has to be completed in the 1st year and rest 4 (four) papers to be completed in the 2nd year. Central library is attached and some study materials are supplied by the teachers.

• To enable the students to acquire a knowledge of reduce the risks from a disaster.

• To develop the skills of emergency rescue, quick and effective communication system through different trainning programme.

• To acquaint the students with the living conditions of men in different disaster prone areas.
